The new Labour Ministry was sworn in by the Governor, Lord Wakchurst. After distribution of preferences Mr Fitzsimons, retiring Health Minister, was returned with a majority of 381. Mr Mair, retiring Premier, has won the Albury seat. The final state of parties is likely to be:

Labour 55 United Australia Party and United Country Party 26 Independents 9 The United Australia Party surprisingly lost another seat when, with the distribution of preferences at Gloucester an Independent was returned. Three seats are still undecided but one of these is likely to be won by an Independent.
