IRAQ SITUATION
SAIB TO BE EASING BRITISH OFFICER’S REPORT. RISING DUE ENTIRELY TO NAZI PROPAGANDA. . CAIRO. May 15. A British officer from Iraq in an interview at Cairo declared: "With the arrival of the reinforcements from India the situation is easing. We arc confident we can handle it. “In the last few days I have seen several unidentified planes, probably German, flying' over Iraq. They sheered of! quickly on the approach of British planes. “The Iraquis are lough soldiers, but they .are easily influenced, and the R.A.F. and Imperial forces have put the fraqui air force out of action without having to employ very devastating methods.” the officer said. “The Iraqui army in isolated sections took the offensive spiritedly, but generally they were not prepared for major engagements, and they have surrendered in large numbers when up against it. “The rising is entirely the product of German propaganda.
