The Hon. Adam Hamilton, M.P., a member of the War Cabinet, left Wellington for the South Island last night. The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Minister of Education, left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express last night to open the annual exhibition of the Auckland Society of Arts. He will return to Wellington tomorrow. Mr Harold James Barnard Barllrop. died in Wellington on Monday. The late Mr Barllrop, who was in his fiftythird year, was educated at Wellington College. On passing his examinations as a pharmacist, Mr Barltrop started in business in Havelock North, Hawke's Bay. Later he practised in Wanganui, leaving that city io take over the management of the Stoddart Pharmacy in Constable Street, Newtown. He was prominent in Masonic circles. The death occurred at Cremorne, Sydney, on Monday last of Mr Edward Duthie. third son of the late Hon. J. Duthie, M.L.C., Wellington. Mr Duthie, who was 66 years of age, was educated at. The Terrace School and Wellington College. After leaving school he was. with his brothers, William and John, associated in business for some twenty years. Then developing pulmonary weakness, he took up his residence in Sydney about eighteen years ago.

There was a large attendance of friends and relatives at the funeral of the late Mr Douglas James Searancke, which took place in Masterton. The pall bearers were Messrs J. Farmer (uncle). F. and G. Searancke (cousins), W. Richards, W. Feonis and W. Burns. Services were conducted by Mr H. Brewerton, of the Gospel Brethren. Among the many floral tributes were wreaths from the Agricultural Departments at Wellington. Hastings and New Plymouth, and the W.F.C.A., Ltd (Masterton).
