DRUID’S LODGE
BUSINESS AT FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS. The A.D., Bro C. N. Cole, presided over the fortnightly meeting of Stonehenge Lodge of Druids. DP Bro A. J. Dew, P.D.P. Bro A. F. Stretton and P.A. Bro H. Murrell of Totara Lodge, Carterton, and P.A. Bro L. A. Hawkins, Pride of Hamilton Lodge, were visitors and were accorded a hearty welcome. Reference was made to the loss sus'oined by the Order in general by the death of the Grand Secretary, Bro J. Laughton, of Wellington. A report received from the dance committee was considered most satisfactory. A large number of people had attended Saturday night’s function and the evening proved to be a most enjoyable one. Special thanks were recorded to Messrs W. R. Nicol and N. R. Jones and to members of the dance committee. Sick pay amounting to £l2 5s 4d was passed to members on the sick fund account of the lodge. On the recommendation of the Dominion Council of Friendly Societies it was decided that doctors and chemists’ dues be collected as usual for the ensuing quarter, pending final decisions on these two matters by the bodies concerned. In the event of either or both schemes under the Social Security benefits coming into force prior to May 26, members would be credited during the following quarter with the amount overpaid. At the conclusion a social evening was held, at which indoor bowls were played between two teams selected from those present.
