TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
MEETING OF MEMBERS COMPETITION RESULT. ADDRESS ON WOMEN OF INDIA. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Townswomen’s Guild was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall yesterday afternoon. Mrs E. J'. Burke presided over a large attendance. Mrs J. E. Lyttle, Guild representative on the local Red Cross Society', spoke briefly on the activities of the organisation. Two appreciated items, “Brahms Lullaby” and “Rendezvous,” were sung by the Singing Circle. lead by Miss D. O'Donnell. The roll call was “How to Make Friends.” A competition for felt work resulted: Mrs Lyttle, 1; Mrs Whittaker, 2; Mrs Davis-Goff. 3. A fair amount was raised by voluntary contribution for the A.N.A. Club in Wellington. The president welcomed Miss E. Hunt, Auckland, and presented her with a shoulder spray. Miss Hunt, who has visited India on three occasions, gave an interesting address on the women of India, .dealing with their customs, etc. She was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was served. The meeting closed with the “Ode” and the National Anthem.
