LOCAL ASSOCIATION SEASON OPENED LAST NIGHT. RESULTS OF GAMES. The indoor basketball season was officially opened last evening by Mr G. Masters, vice-president of the Y.M.C.A., who apologised for the unavoidable absence of Mr E. M. Hodder (president). The games, which were very keenly and closely contested, were controlled by Mr and Mrs H. Piper, of Wellington. The results are as follow: —- Cody’s (M. Eastwood 4) beat State Kitchenette. (N. Davey 2), 4/2. Rangers A (R. Chorley 10, J. Askew 2) drew with Sparklets (P. Dixon 2, W. Nyhan 4. O. Richards 6), 12/12. W.F.C.A. (J. Palmer 14. I. Palmer 6) beat Hospital, 20/0. Tattons (I. Dickason 4. H. MacDonald 4. M. Scott 4) beat Rangers B (N. West 8), 12/8. McKenzies (N. Hargood 4. I. Jones 5) beat Rovers (N. Needham 2, G. Hoar 6), 9/8. Woolworths (G. Harding 11. E. Dixon 4) beat Banks (V. Hendry 1), 15/1. Cathies (E. Harding 10, M. McCormack 2) beat McDuffs (M. Hourigan 9, J. Fitzwater 2). 12/11. Lancers (Joan Gemmell 14, P. Hanley 2) beat Garages (L. O’Neil 3, B. Venner 1). 16/4.
