STATU MINISTRY
RESIGNATION IN NEW SOUTH WALES LABOUR LEADER FORMING CABINET. GRIM FIGHTS IN DOUBTFUL ELECTORATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright i SYDNEY, May 13. The defeated Premier, Mr Mair, today tendered the resignation of the New South Wales Government. The Labour Leader, Mr McKell, later saw the Governor, Lord Wakehurst, and intimated that he would be able to announce the names of the new Labour Ministry possibly next Monday. No marked change has occurred in the election position as the result of today’s checking of the polling figures. ' Indications are that Labour will have 54 or 55 members in the new Parliament, giving it a majority of 18 over the other parties, including Independents. Grim fights are going on in some doubtful electorates, including that of Mr Mair, and the margin whereby three of his Ministers may be defeated will be exceedingly small. They will probably not know their fate till the end of the week. At the moment it would appear that Labour will have 55 seats in lhe new Assembly, United Australia 17, United Country 12. and Independents G.
