The totalisator handled £27,386 10s, against £21,570 10s last year, and the total for the meeting was £57,289, against £41,269 10s. April Direct won the Royal Handicap, but was disqualified for an unau- | thorised change of gear, consisting of I a strap over the tongue. An appeal ■ was lodged. T. H. Gunning was fined £lO for interference with Acuity and Bronze Eagle during the running of the James Memorial Handicap. J. Bryce, Junr., was found guilty of interference with Glenlee in the Southland Handicap and reduced to C grade for the remainder of the season.
