CONFUSION OF NAMES

SUPPOSED DEATH OF P. & A. MEMBER. (“Times-Age” Special.) A coincidence which involved the supposed death of a member was related by the secretary. Mr L. 11. Smart, at the annua] meeting of the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society at Carterton today. Mr Smart reported that on seeing a death notice in the Press of an “old and esteemed member of the society,” he had sent a telegram of condolence to the relatives. He had been considerably surprised to receive a reply that the old gentleman was in excellent health and at • the time was cutting hedges. What had happened was that a resident of the same district, with the same name and initials, had died.
