WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT KOPUARANGA. WINNERS OF COMPETITIONS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute held at the residence of Mrs C. P. Jarrett. An apology for absence was received from Mrs C. C. Jackson. Mrs Jarrett presided. It was proposed to hold a bring and buy stall at the June meeting. Two soldiers’ parcels are to be made up during the month. Mrs Brophy read a full and interesting account of the Wairarapa Federation Conference, for which she was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. During the month members paid a surprise visit to the home of Mrs Jennings, who is leaving the district. Mrs Jarrett, on behalf of members, asked Mrs Jennings to accept a small gift as a mark of appreciation of her enthusiastic support during the past year, and wished her good luck and happi- ■ ness in her new home. After being accorded musical honours, Mrs Jennings replied. After the business of the meeting had been concluded, members spent a pleasant afternoon as the guests of Mrs and Miss Jarrett. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. The results of the competitions were: v, —Boys’ trousers: Mrs Brophy, 1; Mrs >. Wright, 2; Mrs Wright, 3. Best bloom: I Mrs Reside, 1; Mrs O'Connor, 2; Mrs jWright. 3.
