LACK OF INTEREST

IN NEW SOUTH WALES STATE ELECTION MEETINGS VERY POORLY ATTENDED. BOTH SIDES EXPRESS CONFIDENCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.30 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. Seldom has a State election evoked so little public interest as that which is to be held tomorrow. Party organisers on both sides found it most difficult to judge the general feeling of electors. Many candidates had to explain their policies to mere handfuls of supporters. Both sides express confidence in victory. The Labour Party goes to the poll with 32 seats and must wm 14 more to give it a majority, two of which would be reduced to one after the election of a speaker. The present state of parties is: Government 55 Labour 34 Independent 1 One Labour seat has been abolished by redistribution and another is so changed that Labour has not nominated a candidate.
