Keynes, has arrived to confer with Mr Phillips and Treasury officials and study Lease and Lend Act problems. He warned the United States that its economy would not be able to function if Germany won the war and said Germany had succeeded in the prevention of inflation. Britain's present steps were successful and it was absolutely essential 'that the United States also should stop inflationary movements.
