CONTINUED IN ABYSSINIA CONVERGING MOVEMENT ON AMBA ALAGI. GENERAL AMONG PRISONERS TAKEN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 7. A Middle East communique dealing with the Abyssinian front states: “Our converging movement upon Amba Alagi is progressing satisfactorily. While the pressure from the north is increasing, Imperial troops have occupied the town of Quoram, which is only 30 miles south of the main Italian position. In this operation a number of prisoners have been taken, including one general. “In the southern area our troops have engaged the enemy holding a strong position at Wadara, 30 miles south of Nghelli, and this operation is also continuing favourably. On the north-east coastal sector of Italian Somaliland we have occupied Bender Kassin, capturing 100 Italian prisoners and a quantity of war material.” STEADY PROGRESS MADE IN ABYSSINIA. MEN & GUNS CAPTURED IN IRAQ. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.3 a.m.) ■ RUGBY, May 8. A communique issued from British headquarters in Cairo announces: “In the Tobruk and Solium areas British patrols were again active. “In Abyssinia, further positions covering our approach from the "north to Amba Alagi have been captured and a number of prisoners taken. "In all other areas operations are continuing satisfactorily.' In.lraq, following our successful action on May 6 against that portion of the Iraq army which, at the instigation of military adventurers, treacherously attacked Habbania, the situation both at Habbania and Basra remains quiet. Our captures include six guns and over 400 prisoners.”
