AIR MINISTRY REPORT
NUMBER OF SUPPLY SHIPS ATTACKED. IN ADDITION TO TARGETS ON LAND. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) RUGBY, May 6. An Air Ministry communique states: “A strong force of the Bomber Command heavily attacked last night industrial towns in the middle Rhine district. Mannheim, where a great weight of high explosives and incendiaries was dropped, was the principal objective. Frankfurt-on-Main were also attacked. In both towns fires were observed through gaps in the clouds. On the coast of France bombs were dropped on docks at Boulogne and Cherbourg. At daylight yesterday the same command continued a search for enemy coastal shipping and a number of supply ships were attacked. “The Coastal Command last night bombed objectives at the port of St. Nazaire and enemy aerodromes near Stavanger were also attacked. Hits were seen on hangars and large fires were started. “From all these extensive operations none of our planes are missing."
