WEDDING CHRISTENSEN—CONWAY. ('-Times-Age” Special.) An Air Force wedding took place recently in All Saints' Church. Palmerston North, the ■ contracting parties being Margaret Mary, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Dan Conway, Nga Tawa, Marton, and Leading Aircraftsman Cyril Maurice Christensen, fourth son of Mr and Mrs L. C. Christensen, Putara, Eketahuna. Flight Lieutenant Padre Hart, Ohakea, officiated, and the bride was given away by her father. The bride's gown was a heavy selfpatterned ivory satin cut on Princess lines. The bodice featured a heartshaped neckline fastened with a Ruby brooch, a family heirlo.om. The sleeves were long and fitting, and the full skirt fell to form a graceful train. The billowing tulle veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and a sheaf of pink lilies, roses, dahlias and fine fern was carried. The bride's attendants were Misses Marjory Ramsden (Martinborough), cousin of the bride, Edna Christensen (Putara). bridegroom's sister, Joan and Meira Conway (Marton), sisters of the bride, as bridesmaids, and Shirley Goodley, niece of the bridegroom as a flower girl. They were all dressed alike in full skirted frocks of misty blue georgette, fashioned with short puffed sleeves and adorned with diamante brooches. Their head-dresses were of darker toned delphiniums, and they carried sheaves similar to the bride’s.
The best man was Aircraftsman A. T. Cross, Ohakea, and the groomsman were Aircraftsmen A. C. Christensen, R. J. McCormack and Leading Aircraftsman S. Arthur Worsop.
A reception was held in the lounge of the P.D.C., Palmerston North, where 60 guests attended. Mrs Conway received the guests, wearing a pin-strip-ed tailored black costume with black toque and furs, and carried a bouquet of red and gold roses. She was assisted by Mrs Christensen, who chose a tailored navy blue costume, matching blue hat, and carried a bouquet of red and gold roses. The bride's travelling ensemble was a green wollaine costume, darker green hat, and tan coat, with shoos and handbag to match. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING. Mrs D. Fraser (president) presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna Women’s Institute on Thursday. It was announced that a school for officers, will be held on May 8. Tea will be provided for those taking th*eir own lunch. The secretary, Mrs F. Schormann, submitted the report and balance sheet on the recent flower show. Mrs E. C. Albrechtsen gave an interesting report on the annual council meeting held in Pahiatua recently, for which she received a vote of thanks. Consideration was given to the question of the forthcoming Drama Festival to be held in Eketahuna on July 28. The classes for the festival will be drama, folk-dancing and glee singing. It was decided to ask Miss CoxJohnson to visit Eketahuna and lecture on gardening. Mrs Simmers gave an outline of the activities of the Women's War Service Auxiliary and invited the co-operation of the institute with the movement. After considerable discussion it was decided that it be left to individual members to register as they desired. A short play entitled “Cousin Lucy,” was given by members of the Institute's Drama Circle. Those taking part were Mesdames F. Schormann, Olivant and J. Tolley and Misses Gallagher and A. Schormann. This was highly appreciated by all present. The Roll Call: “Sing—say on Penny Pay," created much enjoyment. The month's competitions were won as follows: —Premier bloom: Mrs C. Oliver, 1; Mrs F. Bourke, 2; Mrs Hudson, 3. Gingernuts: Mrs C. Farrow, 1; Mrs W. Sturgeon, 2; Mrs F. Baucke. 3. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames R. Duncan, J. Robinson and Bowering. Presbyterian Church. The Rev. T. W. Armour, of Christchurch. will conduct a special service in the Eketahuna Presbyterian Church tomorrow at 6.45 p.m. Mr Armour is heard over the air in addresses in Scots. Mr Armour, who is convenor of the committee on the Maintenance of the Ministry, addressed a meeting of laymen of the Presbyterian Church at Pahiatua on Thursday night. Eketahuna laymen also attended.
