BRITISH BOMBERS ACTIVE ATTACKS ON BERLIN & OTHER TARGETS. LITTLE ENEMY ACTIVITY. LONDON, May 1. Enemy air activity over Britain today was on a very small scale. Bombs were dropped at one point on the south coast, causing some damage, but a very small number of casualties. Last night .there was very little enemy air activity over Britain, but British bombers raided Kiel and bombs were also dropped in Berlin, in the industrial centre of Hamburg and on the port of Emden. All the British planes returned.
GERMAN REPORT LONDON, May 1. ' A German communique states: "Forces of the Royal Air Force were over Germany last night, and some aircraft reached the capital but none succeeded in penetrating the town area. A few bombs fell on the outskirts but did no damage. The main attack was directed against a north-west coastal area where high-explosive and incendiary bombs were dropped in several places. The damage was confined to houses and the casualties included some persons killed.” DAYLIGHT ATTACKS MADE ON ENEMY SHIPPING. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY, May 1. An Air Ministry communique states': “Yesterday aircraft of the Bomber Command continued to attack and harass .enemy shipping off the Dutch coast. Other aircraft successfully bombed a wireless station on an island off the Norwegian coast. One of our aircraft is missing from these daylight operations.”
