April 30. “If I were handing out George M.edals I would give one to every member of the Royal Australian Air Force 10th Squadron,” declared an R.A.F. squadron-leader, who has just returned from a much-blitzed British port where the Australian squadron is stationed. The daily task of these men is to make wide sweeps of Atlantic sea routes. Dozens of the Australians, senior officers and aircraftmen. voluntarily give the greatest help to the strained welfare services, and assisting to extinguish the blazing buildings and dig out the dead and wounded from the wrecked city. Others are organised in special services to attend to the casualties, feed the homeless, and take prompt measures for their evacuation.
