The authorities now permit publication of the fact that the headquarters of the Overseas Club and the American Embassy were damaged in recent air raids on London. The Holborn emporium of Thomas Wallis and Company was gutted by a fire, which was one of the biggest that night. Only the walls remain standing. The Catholic Cathedral of Saint Georges at Southwark has been destroyed by fire.
