PERSONAL ITEMS

Mr and Mrs D. B. Cameron. Hinakura, are visiting Taupo. Miss Judy Gough, Essex Street, is spending a few days in Christchurch.

Mrs Marshall, Auckland, is staying with her daughter, Mrs Trevor Rutherford, Makuri.

. Mrs Douglass Riddell and her infant son, of Ashburton, are visiting Mrs K. Groves, Longbush. Mrs B. D. Holmwood, Lincoln Road, has returned from a visit to Raumati Beach.

Mrs Desmond Kennedy, Pohangina. is staying with her mother, Mrs Trevor Beetham, “Towcett.”

Miss Beiliss. Pownall Street, who has been staying with Mrs J. Laing, Wainuioru, has returned home. The Misses Cameron, Cole Street, who have been staying with Mrs E. P. Cameron, “Pahaua,” Hinakura, have returned to Masterton.

Mrs A. W. McKay and Miss G. McKay, have returned to Christchurch from a visit to the Wairarapa, Auckland, and the Bay of Islands. Miss Tennant, Director of Voluntary Aids, New Zealand Red Cross Society, is visiting Masterton and is a guest at the Midland Hotel. Mrs J. Caldwell, who has been visiting her daughter, Miss N. Caldwell. Wellington, has returned to her home in Masterton. The ladies of the Y.M.u.A. Auxiliary are holding another of their popular bridge and five hundred card evenings in the Y.M.C.A. rooms tomorrow at 7.45 o’clock. These evenings are proving not only very successful but are thoroughly enjoyed by-all oard players. As usual the ladies will provide supper and prizes.

Brigadier Mrs Hughson, director of the Samaritan Bureau of the Salvation Army in Wellington for nearly three years, has now officially retired from 'active service. The brigadier has been an officer for over 39 years, and has rendered invaluable service as a social officer. For many years she had charge of children's homes in Hamilton and Dunedin. Major Miriam Glover will succeed her as director of the Samaritan work in Wellington.
