In his broadcast, the Duke of Windsor merely thanked America for her “diligent and ceaseless efforts to. support the British cause.” “Your devoted efforts,” he said, “have earned the sincere gratitude of the British people, and the knowledge of your thought of them at this critical time will be a source of great encouragement.”
