OBITUARY
MRS AMELIA ROSSITER. The death occurred yesterday at the Masterton Hospital of Mrs Amelia Rossiter, a highly respected settler of lhe Mauriceville district. The late Mrs Rossiter, who was in her 86th year, came to New Zealand from Surrey, England, when she was a child of five years, and almost immediately took up her residence with her parents in Carterton, where the family lived in the first dwelling, a slab whare, erected in Carterton. Some years later she mar* ried the late Mr John Rossiter (who came to New Zealand on the same boat), and she then settled in Feilding. wher her husband had taken up a position as cabinetmaker. After some time he bought a lime and brick business m Mauriceville, where she had lived ever since. The late Mrs Rossiter endured with fortitude tlie hardships that fell to the lot of the pioneer settler. Though of a quiet, unassuming nature, she was beloved by all who came in contact with her, and her death will be regretted by a wide circle of friends. She had been in ill-health for a short time only. The late Mrs Rossiter is survived by two daughters, Mesdames K. Blade (Wanganui' and I. Nation (Brisbane), and three sons- Messrs Henry (Mauriceville). Edward (Dannevirke). and William Rossiter (Sydney, N.S.W.). The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the chapel of Hyde's Funeral Service, Ltd., following a service at 3’ p.m.. for the Masterton Cemetery.
