PATRIOTIC EFFORT
QUEEN CARNIVAL COMMITTEE CROWNING CEREMONY. SURPLUS OF £92 DONATED TO DISTRICT FUND. The chairman, Mr J. T. Jameson, presided over a meeting of the Masterton Queen Carnival Patriotic Committee held in the Municipal Chambers last night. The secretary, Mr A. P. Bennett, reported that the net surplus from the coronation ceremony was £92 2s lOd. The result, he said, was excellent. In addition, several accounts incurred in the running of the campaign which had not been rendered before the money raised had been paid in to the Patriotic Fund. It was decided that the sum of £92 2s lOd be handed over to the Masterton District Patriotic Fund.
The Anzac night patriotic appeal was briefly discussed. It was considered by those present that the district had played its part by nearly doubling its quota but it was agreed that it be a recommendation from the committee to the public that if anyone in the community wished to support, the appeal the necessary facilities would be available. Details were published yesterday. It was decided to place on record appreciation of Mr Jameson’s services.
