WOOL CHEQUES
NEW RECORD THIS SEASON. SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE SHOWN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Returns for the final wool appraisal, released today by the Auckland Woolbrokers’ Association, show that the total cheque for the 1940-41 season reached a record of £1,653,092. Last season’s cheque was £1,375.086 and the previous record, in 1936-37, was £l,528,545. This is the fifth year in succession that the cheque exceeded a million pounds.
Another record was also established this season, namely, in the quantity of wool handled, which was 95,430 bales, as compared with 81,431 bales last season and 87,949 bales, which was the previous record, in 1936-37.
