CENTRAL SCHOOL
OPENING DANCE OF SEASON. MOST ENJOYABLE EVENING. The first of a series of fortnightly dances was held in the Central School assembly hall on Saturday evening. Several members of the fighting forces were present as guests of the committee. These dances, held under the auspices of the Parents’. Association, have once again proved their popularity as an entertainment, and Saturday evening’s dance was even more successful than the committee had hoped for. The crowded hall presented a gay scene and a jovial spirit soon prevailed under the leadership of Mr W. R. Nicol as M.C.
Music was supplied by Barnes's Rhythm Boys and extras were played by Messrs E. Coddington and H. Hood. The Monte Carlo waltz competition was won by Miss Dickason and partner. Supper was served by a ladies’ committee under the control of Mrs Coddington.
The singing of “Auld Lang Sync” and “God Save the King” in a very spirited manner concluded a happy social evening. The next of the series of old time dances will be held on Saturday, May 3.
