TOO UNEQUAL
STATEMENT BY YUGOSLAV PREMIER
DELAYS THAT WERE FATAL.
HELP INEVITABLY DELAYED.
(By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, April 19. A message from Athens today said that the Yugoslav Premier, General Simonvitch, in a statement on the recent events, said: "The fight which was imposed upon us was too unequal, and our people in accepting it had no illusions concerning the result. It was only a question of the duration of resistance.
“The enemy’s unexpected attack surprised us before our mobilisation and concentration had been completely effected. Neither had we arranged any military organisation with our allies, and wishing to remain attached till the end to our policy of neutrality we avoided all negotiations concerning this collaboration. When the attack was launched our allies, . in spite of the greatest will, were not in a position to help us rapidly.”
