Exempted Reservists. -There appears to be some misapprehension among both employers and employees in the cases of men who have been granted exemption by a manpower committee on account of their being employed in essential industries." said Mr L. D. Hickford, chairman of the Taranaki Manpower Committee, in an interview. Mr Hickford said that there were certain cases in which dairy factories had successfully appealed for an employee, and that employee had accepted a position in another factory under the impression that, as long as he remained in the industry his exemption still held. Mr Hickford emphasised that this was not the case. The exemption held only while the person was in the position with the firm that had appealed for him; lhe committee discountenanced any moves of this type. If a man changed his employment the exemption granted immediately ceased, and he was liable to be called up for service without delay.
