SHOT IN FOOT

ACCIDENT ON WAINGAWA RIVERBED.

MASTERTON MAN INJURED.

While rabbit shooting on the Waingawa River bed yesterday afternoon Mr Leslie Allan Frederick Keen, married, of 28 Perry Street, Masterton, was accidentally shot through one foot with a .22 rifle. After being attended to by Dr Graham Cowie, Mr Keen was admitted to the Masterton Hospital. On inquiry this morning it was learnt that the injured man’s condition was satisfactory.

It is understood that the accident occurred while Mr Keen was crossing a boulder field. The rifle was cocked at the time and was pointing downwards. Mr Keen is said to have lost his footing and the rifle discharged.
