MILLION POUND APPEAL
THE LATEST FIGURES. OVER £600.000 IN HAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI. April 18. The sum of £613.000 is in hand for the all purposes £1,000.000 patriotic appeal, according to the Dominion honorary organiser. Mr J. Abel. The latest figures are: Auckland, £154,200; Wellington, £118.300; Canterbury, £91.500; Otago, £71,000; Hawke’s Bay, £48,700; Taranaki, £36,100: Nelson, £27,500; East Coast, £22,650; Southland, £19,500; Marlborough. £16.000; Westland, £7OO. The increase in the last two weeks has been approximately £35,000, Mr Abel said.
