Yesterday was one of the most successful Poppy Days ever held in Wellington £2034 being accounted for last night, with returns from several collections that are expected to be substantial yet to come. The figure of last year, £2065. is expected to be exceeded. AUCKLAND FIGURES. AUCKLAND. April 18. With returns from seven suburban clubs to come, the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association received £2373 from the annual Poppy Day appeal. It is expected that outstanding amounts will raise the total by at least £4OO, giving about £2OO more than last year’s amount which was a record. RECORD BROKEN. DUNEDIN, April 18. The Poppy Day total for the city and suburbs is £1724 12s Bd. £lB2 2s 6d more than last year, which was a record. There are several returns to come.
