HERD IMPROVEMENT

DISTRICT RETURNS FOR MARCH. The Wellington-Hawke's Bay Herd Improvement Association reports having tested 38,757 cows in the month of March, and the average cow produced 529 lb. milk of 5.2 average test yielding 27.53 lb. butterfat. The highest group in the association was that of Masterton-Whareama, wherein 1204' cows averaged 31.3 lb. butterfat. The highest herd in the association was one of 10 cows, which averaged 46.0 lb. fat, and the highest cow in the association produced 89 lb. butterfat for the 30 day period. The following are the local group figures for the month of March: —
