GREYTOWN
APPLE CROPS DELAY IN PICKING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The continued wet weather has caused delay in the picking of the apple crops. This work should be completed within the next two weeks in most of the Greytown orchards. Croquet. The Croquet Club’s championships have not yet been completed. The official closing of the season will take place next week. Bowling. The handicap singles is the only bowling competition not yet completed, and it appears that this may have to stand over till next season. The grass grub has been playing havoc with the local green. It is proposed to close the green immediately and apply treatment to destroy the grubs. Golf. The greens are in first class condition, but the fairways have yet to be cut, this work having been delayed by wet weather. Football. The Rugby players will hold a practice on Saturday. Several old players have taken up the game again. Hockey. The young players have already commenced practice and the ground at the Memorial Pa’rk has been cut in readiness for competition games.
