KIATERE CLUB ACTIVITIES ANNUAL MEETING, OPENING DAY ARRANGEMENTS. The annual meeting of the Kiatere Harrier Club was held last evening in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms. In spite of the wintry conditions prevailing there was quite a good attendance of members, intending members and supporters. The annual report and statement of accounts were submitted by the secretary and adopted, the financial statement showing the club io be in a sound position. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr Hugh Morrison; president, Mr A. L. Askew; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Jacobsen, V. Taplin, D. Turnbull, R. Liverton, R. C. Falloon. J. MacDonald, A. R. Mills. J. L. Burns. J. Turnbull. W. G. Laing. J. Morrison, W. Ashworth, A. Adderson, the Rev J. Davie, A. Summers, Alex Burns, and Mrs L. R. Batkin; hon secretary and treasurer, Mr L. E. Frances: captain. Mr W. MacDonald; vice-captain. Mr R. Greeks; handicapper, Mr A. J. F. Carter; club coach,' Mr E. Spicer; timekeepers, Messrs W. Ashworth and W. Jacobsen; press reporter, Mr L. E. Frances; trustees for club funds, Messrs A. L. Askew and L. Frances; hon auditor, Mr G. C. L. Dickel; committee, Messrs W. MacDonald, C. Summers. W. Teahan, N. Dickel, R. Greeks and L. Frances: trail-layer, Mr A. J. F. Carter.
Opportunity was taken to elect to the position of honorary life member the former club captain, and one of the founders of the club, Mr Alex Burns. The following former members now serving overseas were elected as honorary members: Messrs A. MacDonald, G. Turnbull. J. L. Burns, A. Addorson and D. Nelson. A ladies’ committee was again formed and will prove a valuable help to the club in the coming season.
After some discussion it was decided that the junior age limit be made up to 18 years instead of 16 years as in the past. It was resolved to hold the official opening run, followed by afternoon tea, at the Epiphany Hall on Saturday, April 26.
The first run of the season will be held on Saturday, April 19, when all members and supporters have been invited to attend the official opening of the Masterton Harrier Club. This run will take place from the Park Oval, commencing at 2.15 p.m.
