The latest reports of yesterday’s earthquake . indicate disturbance over a wide area. Colima, 275 miles west of Mexico City, suffered the severest damage. It is estimated that fifteen thousand people are homeless. Many are dead or injured. The Colima volcano re-erupted, causing forest fires.

Heavy casualties and destruction are feared in several other towns.
