ARMY SUPPLIES

TON A MONTH FOR EVERY THREE MEN. SATISFACTORY POSITION ’ IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 15. Describing the Army supply position as “quite satisfactory,” LieutenantGeneral Sir J. Lindsall. who is in charge of the home forces administration, stated that one ton of supplies was needed monthly for every three soldiers in the field. General Lindsall’s job is to co-ordinate the departments of the Adjutant-General, which is-res-ponsible for the provision of all personnel, and the Quartermaster-Gen-eral, which deals with all supplies from surgical needles to heavy tanks. He said the bulk stores in France were lost when the British Expeditionary Force was evacuated. There were very material reserves in Britain, enabling the re-equipping of the Army to proceed very satisfactorily.
