INTEREST IN CAIRO
MISSION OF ITALIAN ENVOY. ROUND-UP OF BEATEN ITALIANS. LONDON, April 16. The arrival of an envoy from the Duke of Aosta has aroused considerable interest in Cairo. The contents of the Note conveyed are not yet known. It is believed, however, that the Italian envoy came to discuss terms of surrender. The rounding up of the remnants of the Italian army in Abyssinia continues. British troops are operating outward from Addis Ababa and are driving enemy troops along the main I'oads. Several Italian battalions have been taken complete and numbers of deserters have also come in. The Italians have broken up into three groups. One is in the Dessie region, one in the Gondar area, and the other in the Jimma district. British columns ’ are advancing towards Dessie from the north and south.
