The Masterton Harrier Club will officially open the season on Saturday next.

The official opening of the Masterton Indoor Bowling Club’s season took place at the Foresters’ Hall last night. There wkas a large attendance and a pleasant evening was spent. Guaranteed Prices.

At the Labour Party’s conference in Wellington last night a remit supporting guaranteed prices for primary producers was adopted. Films showing the working of the internal combustion engine and specialised lubrication as it applied to the running parts of a motor vehicle were screened in the Y.M.C.A. last night before 35 members of the Transport Division of the St. John Ambulance. Mr H. A. Harcombe gave a running commentary as the films were shown and his remarks were followed with close interest. He was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.

Finance for the war, the New Zealand Labour Party resolved, at its annual conference in Wellington last night, should be found by taxation, by borrowing of genuine savings, and only where necessary and to the benefit of the Dominion, by Reserve Bank credit. It was explained by the Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, that the Government’s policy would probably lead to a combination of the three methods.
