CLAIM AGAINST CHARLIE ' CHAPLIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright I NEW YORK. April 14. A claim for 5.000.000 dollars damages against Charles Chaplin was filed in the Supreme Court today by Konrad Bercovici, novelist, who alleged that he had originated the theme of llio film “The Great Dictator.” Plaintiff' said Chaplin agreed on January 5. 1937, to work in conjunction on a series of pictures. One idea submitted by plaintiff resembled the theme of ‘‘The Great Dictator.” In April, 1938. Chaplin informed plaintiff that for political and other reasons the picture could not be made, but it was alleged that unknown to plaintiff Chaplin proceeded to produce the film.
