ITALIAN GENERAL

SURRENDER WITH STAFF ■ IN ABYSSINIA. LONDON, April 14. The correspondent of "The Times” at Addis Ababa says that General Sanl- - one of the ablest and most elusive of the Italian divisional commanders, has been brought into Addis Ababa after surrendering to a small group of South African officers. General Santini was accompanied by Brigadier Birigatti, three colonels, 40 other officers, 120 whites and 160 Eritreans, comprising the remnants of his whole force. They gave up because of their desperate straits. They were foodless and without ammunition, chilled by the bitter rains and cold in the Arussi Mountains and also harassed by perpetual sniping from patriot pursuers.
