Extensive damage to stocks of bootmaking materials resulted when fire broke out last evening in the boot and shoe factory of Sargood Son and Ewen. Limited, in Richardson Street. Dunedin, but the city fire brigade, assisted by crews from suburban stations, effected one of the most creditable saves in its history, with the result that the blaze was confined to a small part of the factory building and the portion housing the machinery did not suffer at all. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained tonight, nor could the actual value of goods destroyed and damaged. Horses 111 at Waiouru.

Severe weather, including a heavy fall of snow, has resulted in aii outbreak of sickness among horses concentrated at Waiouru Camp for the training of the Ist Mounted Rifles Brigade and a start was made today to move the affected animals to another camp. The sickness has occurred among animals not accustomed to such severe conditions. Several hundred have.developed strangles and about 460 are to be shifted in batches. In the meantime the remainder, numbering more than 1000, are to be left at Waiouru. though the question of transferring the brigade to a new training centre for the completion of its training is being considered.

Gives relief for a coming cold, Grading each dose for young or old; Gives relief for an aching chill, Steaming and strong it surely will. Gives relief for a cough that, clings. Proves its worth by the ease it brings; Gives relief, soon, soothing and sure — Famous Woods’ Great Peppermint Cur,*, 12
