GRATITUDE TO BRITAIN

DESIRE TO GIVE MILITARY AID. IN LIBYA OR ANYWHERE IN AFRICA. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 11.25 a.m.) ADDIS ABABA. April 14.

“It is my dearest wish to raise an army to fight in Libya or anywhere in Africa." said the Emperor Haile Selassie in an interview, at a place 100 miles from his capital, prior to its reoccupation.

After expressing his gratitude for Britain's aid, he said: “I need British help to form and equip a regular army for the future defence of my country. I realise that everything depends upon Britain winning the war and hope to enter Addis Ababa shortly.”
