A.J.C. MEETING

AUTUMN PLATE TO BEAU VITE.

MILDURA WINS DONCASTER.

(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY,. April 12.

The attendance on the opening day of the A.J.C. meeting at Randwick today was 60,000, approximately 6000 more than on the corresponding day last year. ( Mildura’s second Doncaster win was acclaimed by the mighty crowd. It was gained only after a neck and neck finish with Rimveil. Trainer Price has now won three Doncasters. Similarly Mr E. J. Watt is the owner of three successive Doncaster winners. High Caste fell heavily from grace and was never in the hunt, though he looked as fit as a fiddle. Reading, too, failed to fulfil expectations. Mildura’s time, 1.35}, was a course record by a quarter of a second. Records were also established in the First Hurdle race and St. Leger. Jockey McMenamin distinguished himself by having four mounts for four wins.

Beau Vite, at cramped odds, won the Autumn Plate narrowly from Dashing Cavalier in a ding-dong finish but the New Zealander was not at any stage in danger. Results: —
