CONVENTION IN MASTERTON INTERESTING DISCUSSIONS. FREE PARLIAMENT POPULAR. The Convention now being held in Masterton by the Wellington Sunday School Union continued its sessions on Saturday with a period of devotion, under the leadership of Mr F. G. Rutter. Mr N. H. Cousens, of Nelson, took the chair and after a hymn, Bible reading and prayer, an address on the “Place of the Old Testament in Sunday School Teaching” was given by the Rev D. McNeur. Thanks for his interesting address were accorded Mr McNeur. Questions and a discussion then took place. Later Mr W. E. Howe (Convention secretary) occupied the chair and a paper on “Books That Help” was read by Miss Downard on behalf of Mr H. W. Reed. During the afternoon delegates visited the camp of the Girls’ Bible Classes at the Wairarapa College. The delegates met again on Saturday evening and under the leadership of Mr H. E. Brooker joined in a “free parliament,” when questions relating to church life, conduct and witness were freely discussed. This proved to be a very interesting period, so much so that it was adjourned at 7.15 o’clock to allow the programme sot down to be proceeded with and was continued later in the evening. At 7.15 o’clock Mr Goudge occupied the chair for a further period of devotion and meditation and at 7.30 o’clock, under the chairmanship of Mr Chappell. Mr W. E. Stock, past president of the Wellington Sunday School Union, gave an address on “The Teacher’s Personal Preparation,”. Mr Stock was accorded a vote of thanks for his helpful address. Mr Brooker then took the chair and the “free parliament” continued. On Sunday delegates attended public worship both in the morning and evening. In the afternoon a demonstration of primary work was given in the Knox Primary Department by Miss Lois McGregor.
