INTENDED TO SPEED UP AIR PROGRAMME. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, April 11. President Roosevelt, in a move designed to bolster the expanding air programme, has revived the office of Assistant Secretary of War for Air. which has been vacant since 1933. The President nominated for the job Mr Robert A. Lovett, a World War naval aviator and a specialist in the air expansion programme. Mr Roosevelt also nominated Mr John J. McCloy to be Assistant Secretary of War. Both have been assisting the War Secretary, Mr. Stimson.
