Mrs Albrechtsen received a hearty vote of thanks for' her kindness in cleaning the rooms free of charge. It was decided to send Mr G. Connor, Nireaha, a letter of thanks for having supplied firewood.
The report and balance sheet was read and adopted without discussion. The report stated inter alia: —It is very gratifying to record an increase in both town and country babies coming under our nurse's supervision, and also that so many more mothers are showing their appreciation by becoming financial members of the Society. We owe our sincere thanks to Nurse Tinkham for the kind and conscientious way in which she has always fulfilled her duties. With regard' .to finance our branch’s position is quite satisfactory. A raffle run by the Alfredton ladies, a hoop-la stall at the Alfredton Sports, a slfop day in Eketahuna, and a euchre party that the Putara ladies organised, were the only money-raising efforts that have taken place, but they each proved very satisfactory. We thank all those who worked in connection with them. Mrs McAnulty has kindly donated an eiderdown to raffle, for which we thank her very much. During the year a presentation was made to Mrs A. S. Carter in recognition of the valuable help she gave the branch during the 14 years she acted as secretary. It was with regret that we heard of the death of Mrs W. B. Matheson, who was a tower of strength to this branch in its infancy. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the T. G. McCarthy Trust, the Borough Council and County Council for donations; to Mr W. N. Richardson for acting as treasurer: to Mr Gray for auditing, and to Mr Jesson for opening the rooms each day.
