ITALIAN PRISONERS

BATCH ARRIVES IN SOUTH AFRICA. MOSTLY YOUTHS IN POOR CONDITION. CAPE TOWN. April 10. A total of 7500 Italian prisoners, the first batch of 20,000, have arrived at a South African port. They are mostly youths and their physical condition is poor.

Their uniforms were tattered. Some were barefooted and others wore shoes made from blankets. The majority were captured by the Army of the Nile. They included some veterans from the Abyssinian and Spanish wars.
