BOXING IN MASTERTON

ATTEMPT TO REVIVE SPORT. A movement is on foot in Masterton to revive boxing, which was formerly a very popular and thriving sport in the district. It is understood that the services of Mr. M. Strickland., the wellknown New Zealand heavy-weight boxer, will be available to assist in the re-establishment of boxing here. The proposal is to form a club and hold boxing competitions as was the case in Masterton a few years ago. A wellknown former New Zealand champion boxer, Mr. George Barr, of Mastertom is also assisting in the formation of a club. Help will also be forthcoming from a number of other Masterton citizens who are interested in boxing, some of whom have had considerable organising experience in Wellington and other centres.
