POLAR EXPLORERS
RETURNING TO UNITED STATES AFTER SPENDING TWO YEARS IN ANTARCTICA. CONGRESS REFUSES FURTHER FUNDS. (Received This Day. 12.50 p.m.) BUENOS AIRES, April 9. Rear-Admiral R. Byrd's Polar exploration ship The Bear of Oakland, arrived today, with 26 niembers of the United States Antarctic Expedition, who spent almost two years at Marguerite Bay. The motor-ship ' North Star, with 33 other explorers is on route io Seattle. The expedition had expected to remain in the Polar regions for six years, but Congress refused an additional grant.
