OBSERVATIONS BY LORD HALIFAX. STATEMENTS BY MR HULL ENDORSED. ißy Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON. April 8. The British Ambassador. Lord Halifax. at a Press conference, endorsed a statement' by the Secretary of State, Mr Hull, last night that Russia is becoming aware of the. danger from Germany. Lord Halifax added that he thought Mr Hull had phrased the position rather aptly. The "New York Times" comments that Mr Hull and Lord Halifax apparently are attempting to bolster up Russia's courage to a point where she will oppose Germany. Budapest reports that the Soviet Minister. M. Karimov, is going to Moscow to report on the Balkans situation. He is accompanied by his family. The British Embassy in Moscow announced that the staffs of lite British, Greek, Belgian and Dutch legations in Budapest are entering Russia tonight. In an earlier cablegram, Mr Hull was reported as stating that the SovietYugoslav Pact was an encouraging indication of the increasing number of nations that were acutely aware of the nature of the movement to conquer peoples by force.
