ANZAC DAY
SIGNIFICANCE STRESSED BY R.S.A. MESSAGE FROM SIR A. GODLEY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The subject of impressing on the people of the Dominion that Anzac Day is the New Zealand national day of commemoration of all those whose lives have been sacrificed in wars waged by the Crown was given consideration at a meeting of the Dominion executive committee of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association. This is to be the subject of a special letter from the Dominion president. Mr. Perry, M.L.C.. to the president of each association, and to be placed before the forthcoming Dominion council / meeting. Arrangements are being f made for a talk over the air to schooly children by Mr. B. J. Jacobs Dominion 4 vice-president, on the meaning of Anzac Day.
The reply of the Minister of Defence. Mr. Jones, to a Dominion council resolution intimated that a special medical records section has been set up to compile complete and detailed records of all wounds, accidents and illnesses suffered by men on active service from the date of enlistment to the date of discharge. This intimation was received with satisfaction. Mr. Perry reported having received a letter from General Sir Alexander Godley, in which ho sent best wishes to the associations and stated: "I have seen Brigadier Hargest and some other old comrades several times and have visited the 2nd N.Z.E.F. They will do just as well as the Ist N.Z.E.F. if they get the chance. A Happy New Year to you all."
