GUARD DUTY

PROTECTION OF VITAL POINTS. ABOUT SEVENTY MEN REQUIRED. About seventy men are required for guard duty at vital points in and around Wellington. The men needed must be physically fit, strictly sober and between the ages of 42 and 54 years.

The pay offering is: Single men, 7s per day; married men. 7s per day. with 3s per day for wife and Is 6d per day for each child (maximum three) under the age of 16 years. There is no tax on a soldiers' pay. Applications, which must be supported by a favourable recommendation from the local R.S.A., should be posted to Captain G. F. Vance, N.Z.T.S., Officer Commanding, Guards Vital Points, Garrison Hall, Buckle Street, Wellington, C 3. The New Zealand R.S.A. has been asked for its assistance in this matter and the full co-operation of the branches is requested by the general secretary, Mr. S. J. Harrison.
